Questions about an official Cooke County docket, hearing, or case file belong with the clerk or court that holds the original record. Cooke County uses split custody, so the correct office depends on the court level and case type. The routes below identify where to seek district records, county-level files, current settings, and certified copies. This website is a private reference resource and cannot act for a court or clerk.

This Is Not a Court or Government Office. We cannot retrieve dockets, change settings, seal cases, issue certified copies, or provide legal advice. Contact the originating Cooke County court or clerk.

Need an Official Docket or Record?

Route the request by the court that created the Cooke County record:

  • 235th Judicial District Court files: contact Cooke County District Clerk Marci A. Gilbert for felony, district civil, family, and applicable juvenile records.
  • County Court at Law files: contact Cooke County Clerk Pam Harrison for that court’s misdemeanor, civil, probate, guardianship, juvenile, and mental-health records.
  • A current setting: check Cooke County court dates, then verify with the listed court coordinator or clerk.
  • A case number: use the official channels described in the Cooke County case lookup.
  • JP or municipal matters: contact the Justice of the Peace or city court named on the citation.

The primary district-records counter is Cooke County District Clerk Marci A. Gilbert, Cooke County Courthouse, 101 South Dixon Street, Room 207, Gainesville, TX 76240. Call 940-668-5450 or email districtclerk@co.cooke.tx.us. The official records-request form says to allow five to seven business days and requires fees in advance. Confirm current public-counter hours with the office before visiting.

The District Clerk does not hold every Cooke County file. County Court at Law records use the County Clerk route, whose criminal and civil information line is 940-668-5422. Lower-court records remain with the named JP or municipal court. Ask whether a plain or certified copy is needed and confirm the current fee before submitting payment.
